Cuco was born in Ciudad Real, Spain, in 1979. He is a self-taught artist who has lived in Mexico City since 2013. In 2003 he received the Artistic Creation Grant from the Antonio Gala Foundation for Young Creators, which allowed him to reside in Córdoba for a year, dedicating time to creation with other young artists from the Spanish context. In addition to painting, he has cultivated a sculpture, drawing and photography practices. His pictorial work has won the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize in 2004, the Grúas Lozano Prize in 2012 and has been invited to participate in important group exhibitions such as the Vilanova de Cerveira International Art Biennial, the 2013 and 2017 editions, in the XII Gas Natural Fenosa International Art Show, in La Coruña and in the Muestra Internacional Iberoamericana de Arte en Pequeño Formato in Monterrey, in Mexico, the 2016 and 2017 editions. Cuco has participated with his work in important international fairs for emerging artists as Salón ACME, in Mexico (2015, 2017 and 2019). Since 2006 he combines his artistic activity with independent cultural management with other young artists as well as collaborating with the Antonio Foundation for Young Creators as an advisor.
