En Septiembre en su residencia Irma Sofía Poeter, desarrolló: It’s  a GIRL!, abriendo una puerta y cerrando otra. Nos dice, “Es mi primer esbozo de una serie de trabajos que sé que se desarrollarán en el futuro. Está estrechamente relacionada con la serie New Man, cuerpo de trabajo que explora la posibilidad de deconstruir la masculinidad hegemónica y opta por masculinidades alternativas en las que las formas de ser y existir en el mundo destaquen de manera diferente.

Empiezo a imaginar la deconstrucción de esa masculinidad hegemónica en las mujeres. ¿Cómo podemos alterar, transformar, recrear esta estructura? A medida que más mujeres entramos y prosperamos en este sistema vertical y patriarcal, no hacemos más que conformarnos y asentarnos en el mismo sistema del que nos rebelamos. ¿Quién es esta Nueva Mujer que abraza tanto su masculino como su femenino y proyecta ese equilibrio en la creación de un mundo nuevo y armonioso?”.

It’s closely related to the New Man series, body of work that explores the possibility of deconstructing hegemonic masculinity and opts for alternative masculinities in which ways of being and existing in the world stand out differently.

I start to imagine the deconstruction of that hegemonic masculinity in women. How can we alter, transform, recreate this structure? As more women enter and thrive in this vertical and patriarchal system, we are just conforming and settling into the same system we are revolting from. Who is this New Woman that embraces both her masculine and feminine and projects that balance into the creation of a new and harmonious world?”
