RESIDENT

KRISTIN REGER

UNITED STATES

Flesh-colored coatings, geological textures, and bizarre shapes characterize Kristin Reger's recent work. The artist stretches canvases filled with raw clay and hangs these bodies to allow their shapes to be defined. The works are fired and embalmed with enamels invented by Reger. Acrylic, wax, textiles and pieces of foam interact with these ceramic sculptures, giving birth to a universe of organic objects.

Reger is the third artist-in-residence in the Lagos residency program. Over the course of ten weeks of production stay, she will have created new work followed by material experimentation that explores the relationship between costumes and sculpture. The Chicago-born artist, based in Mexico City for five years, comes from a training in textiles and fashion theory, and is currently doing a PhD in Visual Arts at UNAM, Mexico City.
